Why did FIERGS decide to go into partnership with this
conference?
Gasparin: FIERGS
is now seeking partnerships in this area. Our current focus is
on international events, which represents a shift from our previous
focus, which was Business Trade Shows. In this way, we are creating
opportunities for similar events to be held in Porto Alegre. We
are building alliances in this niche market, including business
relationships with event organizers, with a view to acquiring
more experience in the area. The idea is to be better able to
distinguish among the options and select them accordingly, and
to invest in the quality of the resources to be offered to our
potential clients. Finally, we would like to promote events that
have more visibility in the medical business.
Winfocus: How important is it, in
your opinion, for Porto Alegre to host an event such as this?
Gasparin: Porto
Alegre has a vocation for conferences. Although the city is not
a paradise of natural beauty, it boasts a network of top quality
tourism professionals. Having already hosted many large-size conferences,
the capital city of the state of Rio Grande do Sul can provide
a good tourism infrastructure, in addition to excellent professional
tourism teams, to meet the needs of the tourist industry. Moreover,
Porto Alegre’s cultural life offers a wide variety of leisure
options for visitors. For these reasons, this city is well prepared
to handle any kind of conference.
Winfocus: What do you expect
from this partnership?
Gasparin: Scientific
conferences should not be measured by the number of participants,
but rather by the quality and variety of presentations and the
impact they may have on delegates. In my view, therefore, this
is a unique opportunity for our center to foster relationships
with new audiences. In addition, this conference will offer the
Gaucho people a great chance to show their hospitality to visitors,
and to acquire scientific knowledge through all the novelties
and new studies that will be presented.
