Vision & Mission Statements
Improving Primary, Emergency and Critical Care Medicine,
by incorporating “point-of-care” Ultrasound
into Clinical Practice.
Bringing quality “Point-of-care” Ultrasound
to the patient in all out-of-hospital and in-hospital “critical”
scenarios, by developing and fostering, on a global and
multidisciplinary basis, Ultrasound Education, Technological
Development, Evidence-based Research and International Teamwork. |
Scientific and educational
goals
Consistent with its institutional scope, the Scientific Society
aims to achieve the following scientific and social goals.
| 01. |
To identify critical scenarios characterized
by clinical and environmental constraints, where ultrasound,
when implemented and incorporated into patient point-of-care
(“point-of-care ultrasound”), represents a critical
added value (“critical ultrasound”) in order
to improve management, performance and outcome; |
| 02. |
To identify ultrasound “point-of-care” applications
within extra-hospital and in-hospital scenarios, consistent
with prevention, triage, diagnosis, monitoring and treatment
of the critical patient, from primary assessment and stabilization
to definitive treatment and “follow up”; |
| 03. |
To identify the
technical, clinical, organizational, and social competencies
necessary for effective incorporation and diffusion of “point-of-care”
ultrasound into critical scenarios; |
| 04. |
To identify methodology, technology, and instrumentation
necessary for “point-of-care” ultrasound implementation
in such scenarios; |
| 05. |
To analyze the identified items in order to assess their
feasibility, sustainability, and accuracy within the different
settings, together with their impact on patients' outcome
and organizational performance; |
| 06. |
To evaluate and compare the experiences of different investigators
and countries, in order to produce recommendations and guidelines
for clinical practice, continuing education and technological
development, on the evidence basis of the broadest expert
consensus; |
| 07. |
To develop research projects and conferences among investigators,
societies, and institutions, both at local and international
levels, in order to identify, validate, and refine the evidence
and consensus on the recommendations and guidelines that
will be provided; |
| 08. |
To promote quality assured training programs, in order
to maximize basic and advanced competences in assessing
and managing the critical patient, incorporating them, where
appropriate, into school and university curricula of different
countries and health systems; |
| 09. |
To promote networking actions designed to enhance aggregation,
coordination, association, affiliation, promotion, communication,
support for the diffusion and the development of “critical”
ultrasound worldwide, throughout the scientific community
and the healthcare systems, with highest attention to the
scarce-resource contexts and countries. |
